ERMANOS RESTAURANT & BAR
This commission was a collaboration with restaurant owners Mark and Eric Erman. We specifically worked with Mark to bring his vision of bringing the natural world inside.
Mountain Mural with Steel Shelves
We were hired to create a mountain mural inspired by the Catalina Mountains in Southern Arizona. The mural was crafted from various types of wood to reflect the diversity of the Catalinas. Artist and carpenter Ashley Kraut designed and assembled the mountains, collaborating with Raymond Kraut to build a sturdy base to support the large mural. The more difficult part was integrating shelves into the mural to hold liquor for the bar. The final steps involved working with restaurant co-owner Mark Erman to install LED lighting behind the mountains, adding another layer of ambiance to the piece.

We selected a large mesquite branch that had naturally hollowed out over many years. It took many hours of grinding, sanding, and carving to achieve the final look. Raymond then designed a hanging system to suspend the branch in the air.
